Description
Native to the Mediterranean, cistus is a flowering shrub also commonly known as "rock rose," due to its ability to thrive in poor-quality soil. The plant produces eye-catching wide blooms, which are used to create cistus essential oil, along with its branches and leaves. The shrub secretes a resin that imparts its signature scent, which is a dry, warm and herbaceous aroma.

History of Cistus
Sometimes thought to be the elusive Rose of Sharon of lore, cistus is most readily known as a member of the rock-rose family, a name it garnered because of its ability to grown in arid, stony ground. Traditionally, cistus has been used for a variety of applications. Its fragrance is resinous with hints of fruit and honey, making for a comforting aroma that can ease troubled minds.

Inhalation
